Well, Robbie's been home since Saturday, and yesterday he installed the new kitchen-garbage system, made a delicious salad, and 95% fixed the utility sink, which, and I'm just going to go ahead and say this and delicate sensibilities be damned, was super hot. (Of course, I say this as the observer. Robbie, who was down on the floor chiseling bits of rock-solid twenty-year-old laundry soap out of the drain trap with a screwdriver and a hammer, may have been less thrilled.) The sink is still not draining perfectly, but now it functions, and it seems that pouring boiling water down the drain is slowly melting away the remaining bits of soap, so I think it will be totally better soon.

Robbie also brought home some chocolate for my parents to thank them for staying with us, and we drove it out to my parents' today after I picked Henry up from school (mostly because our cleaner was here and I like to give her some space so she doesn't feel like I'm peering over her shoulder counting the spoons). My mom appreciated the chocolate, but I think we made out better than she did, because she gave us the complete set of Charlie Brown Cyclopedias that I had when I was a kid, and also a blurb about me in the local paper from when I was in high school, which someone had diabolically blown up to about two feet by three feet. Neither of us could remember who did such a thing or for what purpose, but it's fairly awesome, and I'm trying to figure out the best thing to do with it. Right now I'm thinking the guest room. It has a photo and everything, although the pixels are about a half-inch across and I look very pointillist. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to cracking open the Cyclopedias this evening, although unfortunately the one about ships, which had the awesome diagram of all the floors on the QEII, slid under one of the seats of the car, where it will remain until I can get out there without simultaneously wrangling kids.

So, that was all very good, but unfortunately she did forget to give me the notebook my parents found this weekend, in which I apparently wrote "My Masterpiece" (in very flowery cursive, I'm guessing) and then absolutely nothing else. The more things change...

Time-wise, maybe, but you 100% fixed the thing that's been driving me nuts for the last two weeks, which counts for a lot.
